Generating and Modifying Passwords

As a Reseller, you would have to assist your Sub-Resellers, if they happen to forget their Username / Password for accessing their Control Panel. In such cases, there are 4 methods available for you. You can select any of the following methods to help your Sub-Resellers login to their Control Panel:

Forgot Password (Anchor: forgot)

Note

This method is useful when your Sub-Reseller has forgotten his Password.

To Direct your Sub-Reseller to Generate a Temporary Password for himself

  1. The Sub-Reseller needs to visit the Control Panel Login URL at http://manage.whois.com/reseller.

  2. Click the Forgot Password link.

  3. Provide his Username (Email Address) and click the Forgot Password button.

This would send an email to his email address, containing the login URL, Username and a Temporary Password. The Sub-Reseller can then login to his Control Panel with this Password and then change the original Password, through the Settings -> Change Password menu.

Note

This Password would be effective for 3 days only. Also, during this time both the original Password and the Temporary Password would work for logging in.

Send Password (Anchor: send)

Note

This method is useful when your Sub-Reseller does not even remember his Username.

To Send a Temporary Password to your Sub-Reseller

  1. Search for the Sub-Reseller and proceed to the Sub-Reseller Details view. 1

  2. Click the Send Password button.

This would send an email to his email address, containing the Login URL, Username and a Temporary Password. The Sub-Reseller can then login to his Control Panel with this Password and then change the original Password, through the Settings -> Change Password menu.

Note

This Password would be effective for 3 days only. Also, during this time both the original Password and the Temporary Password would work for logging in.

Change Password (Anchor: change)

Note

This method is useful if a Sub-Reseller has forgotten his Password and is also unable to get the Temporary Password via email. As a last step, you can change his Password and provide him the same.

To Change your your Sub-Reseller's Current Password

  1. Search for the Sub-Reseller and proceed to the Sub-Reseller Details view. 2

  2. In the Sub-Reseller Details view that follows, click the Change Password button.

  3. Provide a New Password and then Confirm Password.

    Note

    You need to consider the following, in relation with your password (Anchor: password):

    • Allowed password length is 8 to 15 characters.

    • Use a combination of capital and lowercase letters, with punctuation marks, special characters and numbers.

    • Change the password on a regular basis.

    • Avoid password that contains personal information (name, birth place, etc.) or dictionary words.

    • Avoid using repeating characters (aaaaaa), keyboard patterns (asdfgh) or sequential numbers (123456).

    • Do not disclose your password to anyone.

  4. Click the Change Password button to save the changes.

Generating Temporary Password (Anchor: temp)

Note

Using the method mentioned below you can yourself login to your Sub-Reseller's Control Panel, by generating a Temporary Password for it.

To Generate a Temporary Password for your Sub-Reseller

  1. Search for the Sub-Reseller and proceed to the Sub-Reseller Details view. 3

  2. In the Sub-Reseller Details view that follows, click the Generate Temporary Password button.

This will present you with the login URL, Username and a Temporary Password for the Sub-Reseller.

Note

This Password would be effective for 3 days only. Also, during this time both the original Password and the Temporary Password would work for logging in.
